“Howdy, Howdy, Howdy”
This piece is crafted from Hanji, a traditional Korean mulberry paper, symbolizing both my Korean heritage and my life in Texas. The red and blue, shared by the flags of Korea and Texas, serve as a bridge between my two homes. The manipulation of Hanji reflects a deep respect for my cultural roots, while the playful nod to Texas—"Howdy Howdy Howdy"—infuses the work with a sense of humor and local pride. Inspired by the expressive simplicity of Rothko’s color fields, this artwork explores identity and belonging through layers of texture and meaning.
